MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Salt Games return to Myrtle Beach this weekend. It's the second year for the two-day event that includes a variety of beach competitions.
The competition begins Saturday with a pro-am surfing tournament by the old pavilion site in downtown Myrtle Beach. Other events during the weekend include a paddleboard race, a men's professional beach volleyball tournament and a kid's run.
The main event is the Lifeguard Games, which pit lifeguards against each other in various competitions.
A portion of the proceeds from the games supports the Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit environmental group working to protect and enhance beaches.
