A mother who drove off with her 4-year-old daughter without permission from Westview Primary School in Goose Creek last year was sentenced to probation this week.
A judge in Berkeley County sentenced Neely Blanchard, 27, of Jacksonville, Fla., to five years of probation after she pleaded guilty to disturbing schools.
Blanchard violated a Family Court order when she showed up to the Goose Creek school the morning of May 2, 2013, and took her daughter, according to authorities.
Custody of the child belongs to the child's paternal grandmother, according to police.
S.C. Highway Patrol troopers later caught up with Blanchard, who was in a convertible with the child on Interstate 26 and authorities arrested the mother, according to investigators.
