A former Charleston County corrections officer is accused of possessing child pornography, the Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
Matthew William Davis, 28, of Braly Drive in Summerville was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, said Charleston County Assistant Sheriff Mitch Lucas. Davis was a guard at the Charleston County jail.
On May 27, police searched Davis' home and found two laptops with 10 images of minors having sex, according to an affidavit filed by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office. Dorchester deputies conducted the investigation.
A friend of Davis' alerted authorities about the images, Lucas said.
Davis was fired from his corrections job for conduct unbecoming an officer, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
More details were not immediately available.
