COLUMBIA - South Carolina closer Joel Seddon was named a second team All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.
Seddon, a junior right hander, led the SEC with 14 saves last season. He finished with a 3-2 record and 1.66 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 12 walks in 48.2 innings.
It was Seddon's first season in the closer role. He flourished as a junior, helping make South Carolina's bullpen one of the team's strengths.
Seddon was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 11th round of the MLB Draft last weekend. He is expected to sign.
