Steve Spurrier has been on a roll as head football coach at South Carolina, but that doesn't count for much on the golf course.
The Head Ball Coach will compete in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe next month, and the Harrah's/Harveys Lake Tahoe Race & Sports Book lists him at 200-1 odds to win the tournament.
Also listed at 200-1 odds are former NFL stars Marcus Allen, Brian Urlacher and Jared Allen. The tournament favorite is former LPGA star Annika Sorenstam at 2-1 with John Elway at 12-1 and Steph Curry at 10-1.
Other top players in the 2014 field are Charles Barkley, Ray Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Jerry Rice, Jason Kidd, Steve Young, Alex Smith, Jason Witten, John Fox and Carson Palmer.
The American Century Championship is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2014 with a special salute to America's Armed Forces. As part of that initiative, Col. Chad Pfeifer, three-time winner of President George W. Bush's Warrior Open and the 2011 National Amputee Tournament champion, will also join the field. Pfeifer lost his left leg in an IED explosion while on patrol in Iraq in 2007.
NBC Sports, NBC Sports Network and Golf Channel will televise the tournament set for July 15-20.
