SEABROOK ISLAND - Syked out didn't release any billfish on Saturday's final day of fishing in the Bohicket Marina Invitational Billfish Tournament but it didn't matter. Syked Out's 800-point total from Friday, accumulated by releasing a blue marlin (600 points) and a sailfish (200 points), was enough to retain first place for the boat owned by David Sykes of Isle of Palms and captained by Dan Woody.
Game On, owned by Bubba Roof and captained Trey McMillan, made a valiant run with a white marlin (300 points) and two sailfish Saturday to tally 700 points and take second.
Miss Wy, owned by Ed Holder and captained by Matt Wilkinson, finished third with 600 points for a blue marlin release Friday.
The only other billfish release Saturday was Mister Pete which released its second sailfish of the tournament.
Twenty-two boats fished the event, the second of the five-tournament South Carolina Governor's Cup Billfishing Series. The billfish totals for the event were two blue marlin, one white marlin and seven sailfish.
The dolphin division was won by Cotton Picker, owned by Wynn Cowan and captained by Gene Sauers, with a 51.6-pound catch. No tuna or wahoo were weighed.
