A Wendy's customer who was unhappy in the drive-thru line Thursday afternoon smashed a cashier's hand in the window, according to Mount Pleasant police.

Workers at the Wendy's at 1220 Ben Sawyer Boulevard said it was a man in a red pickup truck, according to the incident report.

The man was mad because his order was not ready when he drove up to the pickup window about 2:25 p.m., according to the report. The 17-year-old cashier told police he didn't tell her what kind of combo he wanted. He began to mutter and used a racial slur.

She called over another employee to help fill the order. He called her stupid and said she couldn't speak English. Then the man hit the window, forcing it down on the cashier's left hand.

The cashier yelled out that the man had smashed her hand in the window. A manager came over and asked him why he smashed the cashier's hand. The man said, "I didn't, I was trying to place an order and they act like they couldn't get it correct."

The manager completed the order and the man drove off. Then the manager called police.

Police tracked the license-plate number to a house on the Isle of Palms but did not immediately find anybody there.

The cashier was taken to a hospital to get a splint put on her thumb.

Damage to the window was estimated at $400.
