Videos of alligators wandering the Lowcountry are popping up on social media almost as much as the animals themselves.
There's something jaw-dropping about these prehistoric creatures we just can't get enough of.
Thanks to Chris Harper for providing this video he took of what he estimates to be a 13-foot gator lounging in the front yard of a Kiawah Island home about 11 a.m. Monday. The gator eventually walked back through the yard to the pond he calls home, Harper said.
As reporter Bo Petersen wrote last month, it's the time of year when alligators are searching for mates and deeper fishing water.
"Forget what you've seen on TV. Alligators are not aggressive by nature, Ron Russell of Gator Getter Consultants told Petersen. "They are passive by nature. You leave them alone; they'll leave you alone."
