Dorchester County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who reportedly robbed a woman at knifepoint Friday outside a Check Into Cash business on Ashley Phosphate Road.
According to Sheriff's Capt. Tony Phinney, deputies were notified about the robbery shortly after 9:30 a.m. The business' employees had hit their alarm, drawing authorities to the scene, he said.
Witnesses reported that a black man in a black hoodie robbed a female employee at knifepoint in the parking lot at 3748 Ashley Phosphate Road, Phinney said. The man tried to stab the woman, deputies were told, and paramedics were asked to respond to the scene.
The woman initially thought that she had been stabbed in the attack, Phinney said, but paramedics found no injuries and she was not transported to a hospital.
An unknown amount of cash was stolen during the robbery, Phinney said.
