MURRELLS INLET - The man accused of exposing himself to two girls while they played Tuesday at Huntington Beach State Park is now in custody, sheriff's deputies reported.

Patrick M. Krell, 43, was arrested this morning in Deland, Fla., Georgetown County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said. His last known address is listed as Grady Road in Rockmart, Ga., Cuthbertson said, but investigators learned that he had been staying with someone in the Charleston area or possibly living in his van.

A tipster contacted authorities saying Krell was hiding out in Florida, which led to his arrest, she said.

Krell is being held at the Volusia County jail on two counts of indecent exposure. It wasn't immediately clear when he would be extradited to Georgetown County.

The arrest was made in connection with an incident that occurred this week near Murrells Inlet.

Authorities responded to Huntington Beach, 16148 Ocean Highway, around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Cuthbertson said. Two girls had told a family member that a man exposed himself to them while they played near the water, she said.

A witness followed the man as he drove toward Ocean Highway in a greenish blue GMC van with a Georgia license plate. The van was located and taken into custody at the time of Krell's arrest, Cuthbertson said.

The arrest wasn't Krell's first on the charge. Charleston police charged him with indecent exposure on Nov. 30, State Law Enforcement Division records show. The disposition of that charge wasn't immediately clear.
