Citadel basketball adds guard Tim Broom to recruiting class

The Citadel has added guard Tim Broom of Jacksonville, Fla., to its basketball recruiting class for this fall.

Brown, 6-0 and 200 pounds, averaged 11.2 points and 6.9 assists last season at Sandalwood High School, leading his team to a 26-3 record despite suffering a broken pinkie on his shooting hand.

"I am extremely excited to add a player of Tim's caliber to our recruiting class," said Citadel coach Chuck Driesell. "He comes to us after having a tremendous senior season. What impressed me most about Tim during our recruiting process was his high level of maturity. He is very focused and driven to excel on the court as well as in the classroom."

A three-year letter-winner, Broom capped off his career by earning consecutive team most valuable player and All-Gateway Conference awards.

"Tim did a great job of leading his team to an outstanding record this season," added Driesell. "He plays with a distinct toughness that is not typically seen in a high school senior. He has good size with strength and can handle pressure extremely well. I look for Tim to be a fine addition to our Citadel basketball program."

Joining Broom in The Citadel's recruiting class are guard Jake Wright of Minnetonka, Minn., and center Nadi Beciri of Hackensack, N.J.
