1. Why did you change the website?
We redesigned The Post and Courier website to offer our users a cleaner, easier to use site that better highlights the important news of the day. The new site also is a responsive website. That means the site conforms to the device you are viewing us on, whether it be a mobile phone, a tablet or a desktop computer. The new site also should load much faster than our previous site so that you can get to the news and information you want without waiting.
2. What are the important new features on this site?
In addition to being responsive, the site has other important new features:
. By clicking on the arrow in the dark, Latest News box, you can pull that off to your home screen so you can easily keep up with the news.
. The trending bar at the top of the page helps you understand the hot stories that have people in Charleston talking. You can click on those words and phrases and read the stories that are fueling those trends.
. Daily polls are much easier to find on our home page, nestled next to the Latest News bar.
. Weather information is displayed in an easy-to-use format, and by clicking on the icon you can go deeper into the site for detailed information including the forecast and live radar.
. Prominent share buttons on story pages make it easier for you to share news with your friends on social media or via email.
. Our photo galleries are easier to use and share with friends.
. Special content like Politics, Food and Entertainment have enhanced pages so you can get the most out of the news and information The Post and Courier provides on a daily basis.
3. How do I get around the new website?
Navigation is much easier. You can hover over the selected content areas in the main navigation bar to peruse headlines or you click on the section name and go right to that section.
By clicking on the box with the three lines next to the Post and Courier nameplate, you can find even more information like classified ads, shopping news and information and other websites related to The Post and Courier such as Lowcountry Parent.
4. How do I log in with my member account?
By clicking on the person icon to the right of the search box, you can enter your member account information and log in to enjoy unlimited access to The Post and Courier and other member benefits.
5. How do I find the obituaries?
The obituaries remain in the main navigation. Simply click on the word Obituaries and you can select "Death Notices" to be taken to a list of death notices and funerals, or click "Search" to be taken to our page powered by Legacy to view complete obituary notices and also sign a guest book.
6. How do I find the blogs?
You can find our blogs by choosing the relevant section with your mouse and finding the blog in the Additional Links list to the right of the menu box. For example, find food writer Hanna Raskin's blog under Food, Clemson beate writer Aaron Brenner's blog under Sports and Social Media Editor Any Paras' social media blog under News.
7. How do I access the classifieds and other marketplace items like cars and homes for sale?
You can either click on Classifieds in the main navigation bar or you can click on the three lines to the left of The Post and Courier nameplate and choose the specific page you want to visit by scrolling and clicking.
8. How do I search the archives?
You can search recent stories by simply entering the term or terms into the white search box at the top of the page. If you are looking for something older than a few weeks, begin typing. An option will drop down from the main search box and allow you to search our historic archive.
9. Where do I find weather information?
Hover over the main weather icon on the home page. Once there, you can select any number of options - including forecasts and radar - for weather news and information.
10. How do I contact someone at The Post and Courier?
Scroll the bottom of the homepage. Under "About," click on Staff and select the person you want to talk to. Each story page also has contact information for the author.
11. How do I leave a comment on a story?
You need to have a Facebook, Yahoo, AOL or Hotmail account to comment. Simply find the "Add a comment." box at the bottom of any story and type your comment into the white box. Then, click the "Comment using." button and select the account type you'd like to use. A window will pop up prompting you to log in to your account. Once you do that, you'll return to the story screen and click the "Comment" button.
If you are already logged in to your Facebook account before commenting, you should already see your profile picture next to the white box. You'll also be given the option to post your comment to your Facebook profile. The box will automatically be checked, so be sure to uncheck the box if you'd rather skip that part.
