A man is still on the run after he shot a coworker Thursday at the North Charleston hotel they had been staying, according to police.

Police said Andrew Trotter, 25, has left the Lowcountry and is wanted for the shooting of 29-year-old Tai Thach, who is hospitalized at Medical University Hospital.

Trotter and Thach were both staying together at a room of the Inn Town Suites on Rivers Avenue, police said.

The out-of-towners had been working with a construction company, according to police.

The pair were asked to leave the hotel, although police have not said why.

Thach began yelling at the hotel housekeeper and pointed a gun at her, according to police.

Trotter then grabbed the gun, turned it on Thach and shot him, police said.

Thach was charged with kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

A warrant for attempted murder is out for Trotter, police said.
