MURRELLS INLET - Katie Rose Higgins, the two-time defending champion, was unable to make it a three-peat in the Carolinas Women's Amateur golf tournament at Wachesaw Plantation. Higgins shot a final-round 77 for a 54-hole total of 224 and finished fourth in the event at Wachesaw Plantation. Katie Kirk of Davidson, N.C., won with a score of 220. Savannah Hallman of Mount Pleasant finished in a tie for fifth at 225. Victoria Tsurutis of Charleston won the second flight with a score of 234.
