NEBO, N.C. - McDowell County sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting death of a couple in Nebo that appears to be a murder-suicide.
Capt. Shanon Smith said Garry Capps, 62, and Judy Capps, 59, were found shot to death at their home Saturday night. Smith says it appears Garry Capps shot his wife in the head before shooting himself.
"There's no indication that there were problems with their marriage or any ill will between them," Smith said. "Both had health issues. We're not sure if that would be the motive. We're still trying to search for those answers, and we may never know the true answers to why this occurred."
Smith said Garry Capps had been pastor of Bond Servant Ministries in Marion before he began having health issues.
Church members had become concerned when the couple did not show up for a weekly Bible study Saturday and contacted the sheriff's office.
Investigators are waiting on an autopsy and lab results to confirm the murder-suicide ruling. Investigators are not looking for any suspects.
