A man who had been reported missing in Berkeley County was found dead Wednesday at Quinby Creek Boat Landing.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury identified the dead man as 67-year-old John Profit of Huger.
A caller reported Profit missing to 911 dispatchers around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, Salisbury said.
Search crews responded to the creek on Cainhoy Road and found a truck with the engine still running. They also found a cellphone, a wallet, shoes and a shirt on the dock, Salisbury said.
Profit's body was found shortly after 10 a.m. near a boat that had floated down stream. Salisbury said his office is still investigating what killed the man. Foul play is not suspected, he said.
The Berkeley County Rescue Squad, sheriff's deputies, firefighters and the Department of Natural Resources assisted in the case.
