All equipment of the former Piggly Wiggly store at 1739 Maybank Highway will be auctioned off at the store at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Harris Teeter bought the James Island store, along with six other Piggly Wiggly locations in the Charleston area, during Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co.'s sell-off of local supermarkets in September.
Harris Teeter is likely shedding the store's remaining inventory to prepare for demolition.
The city of Charleston several months ago approved the contractors' plan to demolish the former Pig and build a brand new grocery store from the ground up, according to city planner Tim Keane.
Officials working with the site have said that the current building is in such poor condition, remodeling it would be too costly and time-consuming.
Equipment up for bids include meat cases, pressure fryers, grills, meat saws, shelving and more. The auction is already taking place online.
