A suspect is in custody after a man was shot in the leg on James Island last week.
Michael McNeil, 27 of Secessionville Road is charged with first-degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said. McNeil was arrested Thursday and booked into the Charleston County jail.
Around 4 a.m. May 14, police found a man lying in the front yard at 1402 Secessionville Road with a gunshot wound to his right leg, according to an incident report. He was identified as Thaddeus Washington, 42, of Seaside Lane. He was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.
