The Charleston area can expect two more days of sunny skies until the chance of thunderstorms rises early Thursday, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

Forecasters at the North Charleston weather station predicted a high of 85 degrees Tuesday, which is 3 degrees above normal for the date and 10 degrees below the record high set in 2000.

Thermometers hit 90 a day earlier.

The likelihood of storms will increase Wednesday night, with the greatest chance of a rumble of thunder after 2 a.m. Thursday.

Tuesday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 85. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Tuesday night: Patchy fog after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight.

Wednesday night: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Light southeast wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. High near 82. Southeast wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.
