For the third time in the last four weeks, Charleston Southern's Alex Tomasovich has been named the Big South baseball player of the week.
Tomasovich, a senior from Tega Cay, batted .500 with eight hits and five RBIs to lead the Buccaneers to a 4-0 record last week, including a series sweep over Winthrop to keep the Bucs in the hunt for the Big South South Division title. He posted a hit in all four games and notched a pair of games with three hits.

Charleston freshman pitcher Tyler Thornton was named Colonial Athletic Association pitcher of the week.
Thornton was outstanding in his win on Sunday at Hofstra, recording the first out of the ninth inning in his sixth quality start of the season. A native of Taylors, Thornton allowed just three hits and one unearned run while striking out seven batters with no walks in 81/3 innings. He is now 5-4 and has wins in four of his last five starts.
Sunday's win was crucial as the Cougars not only took the series at Hofstra, but also secured a bye through the first round of the CAA tournament.
The award was Thornton's first pitcher of the week honor. He was named CAA rookie of the week on April 7.
College of Charleston baseball fans have plenty to look forward to this week as the Cougars conclude the regular season with four big games, including a CAA series that will determine the regular season conference champion.
The game times for the series against William & Mary will now be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Junior righthander Daniel Gossett was named one of eight national players of the week by Collegiate Baseball and earned ACC pitcher of the week honors.
It was the second time this season and third time in his career that he was named ACC pitcher of the week. He tossed a four-hit shutout to earn the win in Clemson's 8-0 victory at Notre Dame on Saturday.
The Lyman native allowed just four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts in his second shutout of the season and third of his career. No Fighting Irish player advanced to third base in a game that saw Gossett face just five batters over the minimum.
