Crews on Monday afternoon capped a gas leak that had closed two northbound lanes of Savannah Highway in West Ashley, fire officials said.
The leak was reported around 1 p.m. in the 800 block near the Nicholson Street intersection, the Charleston Fire Department said. The scene is in the Avondale area of West Ashley.
Savannah Highway remained open, but authorities had been diverting traffic around the two lanes on the northbound side that were blocked.
The Fire Department said around 1:30 p.m. that the leak had been fixed and that traffic was returning to normal.
