SUMMERVILLE - A child who was visiting family members in Summerville accidently shot himself Monday, according to the Summerville Police Department.
Police received a call at about 4:30 p.m. Monday that a child had been shot on West Richardson Avenue, according Capt. Jon Rogers. The child, who police said is about 4 years old and lives in North Charleston, found the weapon and shot himself, according to the report.
He was flown to the Medical University for treatment, authorities said. The case is under investigation.
