Jamal Rashard Rollerson, 22, of Gordon Street, is being held at the Charleston County jail on a strong-arm robbery charge, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
The alleged robbery occurred around 11:45 p.m. Jan. 4 near Chalmers and State streets, he said.
According to an incident report, the victim was headed to a nearby parking lot when he was approached by two men and told to hand over all his belongings. The robbers ran away with the man's iPhone and a bag he was carrying, police said.
Charleston police are still searching for a second suspect in the case.
