ST. GEORGE - The Dorchester District 4 board has narrowed the field of candidates for the superintendent position.

Jerry Montjoy, who has served the district as superintendent since 2006, in January announced plans to retire effective June 30 from his $106,000-a-year job.

Twenty candidates applied for the job, according to district officials.

The finalists are:

William Dixon assistant superintendent for the Colleton County School District.

Morris Ravenell, principal of Clay Hill Elementary School.

Gerald Wright, interim associate superintendent of Human Resources, Pupil Services, State Testing and Operations for Orangeburg County Consolidated School District Three.

The public is invited to meet the finalists at 7 p.m. Monday in the gymnasium of Woodlands High School, 4128 Highway 78, Dorchester.

Questions can be submitted to the candidates in advance at the District 4 office, 500 Ridge St., St. George, or by 6 p.m. at the night of the meeting.
