Sheldon Goodman, one of six people charged with murder in a 2011 fatal shooting in St. Stephen, pled guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
He received a sentence of 23 years on each charge, to run concurrently, from Ninth Circuit Court Judge Roger Young.
Goodman of Boundary Road in Eutawville, was charged with murder, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in the Sept. 26, 2011, death of Brittany Aigoro, 21, of St. Stephen. Also charged were Goodman's 23-year-old brother, Aveon Goodman, also of Boundary Road; Brandon Jenkins, 22, of Broken Arrow Road; and his cousin Joshua Jenkins, 24, of Torch Road. Aveon Goodman was Aigoro's fiancÚ.
Deanna Shaw, 22, of St. Stephen, who was described as the victim's best friend, and Arnashia Latifah Stokes, 17, of Canty Drive, Santee, were also charged with murder.
Aigoro was shot when a hail of bullets was sprayed into a Russellville Road house during what authorities at the time called a "robbery gone bad." Another man in the house, 25-year-old Kendrick Shirer, also was shot but survived.
Charges are pending for the co-defendants.
