Local production company Litton Entertainment has been nominated for 11 Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards for its children's programs that air on ABC and CBS Network.
The Mount Pleasant-based production company partnered with CBS in September to produce "The CBS Dream Team," a three-hour block of educational shows for children that airs Saturday mornings. Litton has for the past three years produced "Weekend Adventure," another children's program that airs on Saturday mornings on ABC.
Two of Litton's programs produced for ABC, "Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin from Georgia Aquarium," and "Born to Explore with Richard Wiese," are nominated for three awards each.
"Lucky Dog" and "Game Changers with Kevin Frazier," programs that have been on the air on CBS for one season, have also been nominated.
"Litton Entertainment is extremely proud to be recognized by the industry's leading authorities on quality programming," said Dave "Buddy" Morgan, CEO of Litton Entertainment. "I salute our ABC Owned Station partners, ABC affiliated television stations, the CBS Network and congratulate our talented and dedicated team of professionals who work tirelessly to create quality programs that inspire and educate audiences."
The Federal Communications Commission requires TV stations to air at least three hours per week of educational shows for children. Litton's weekend morning programs help CBS and ABC meet that requirement.
While the production company is based in the Lowcountry, the majority of the programs are filmed in Burbank, Calif., at a studio near Los Angeles.
