NEW YORK - Police say a South Carolina man sleeping on a subway train in New York City's Times Square has been arrested after a passenger noticed him holding a loaded handgun.
Police say Demarrius Jackson was arrested at about 7 a.m. Saturday on criminal possession of a weapon charges. He's also been charged with marijuana possession.
The 19-year-old Columbia, South Carolina man was in custody and unavailable for comment. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
Police say the conductor of a southbound N train summoned police via radio after a woman passenger reported seeing an armed Jackson sprawled out on subway seats.
That's when police say three officers arrested a sound-asleep Jackson with his hand on the handle of a defaced 9mm gun tucked in his waistband.
