A man accused of punching a woman and stealing her purse last month is now facing drugs and weapons charges, according to police.
Monterio Brown, 21 of Florida Avenue in North Charleston was charged Tuesday with strong-arm robbery in the alleged attack on the woman March 19 on Magazine Street, authorities said.
When conducting a search of Brown's apartment for the investigation following his arrest, police found 25 pounds of marijuana, $14,290 in cash and a handgun, according to Charleston police.
Brown and his two siblings, Jermane Julius Givens Jr., 19, and Tanesha Quilann Fields, 23, were charged with trafficking marijuana, distribution of a controlled substance within close proximity of a school and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
