Thousands lost power as thunderstorms sweep through the Lowcountry on Wednesday morning.
SCE&G reported 3,280 customers without power in Dorchester County, according to its outage map. By 4:30 p.m., power had been restored to most customers.
The outages were due to high winds and lightning, according to SCE&G officials.
Unseasonably warm, moist air collided with a cold front to spark the thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is expected through Friday, forecasters said.
