The National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday night in Charleston on the steps of the Customhouse.
Prayer and worship starts at 6 p.m. Dance and drama teams from several churches will participate.
Prayer will be offered up for America in the areas of government, military, media, business, education, church and family.
Congress established the National Day of Prayer in 1952, according to the website that promotes it.
