The Spectator Hotel at 67 State St. will soon rise near the City Market in downtown Charleston.
It was announced Tuesday that a formal ground-breaking ceremony will be held May 15, although construction recently began on the four-story, 41-room accommodation.
Managers of the project are Jay Keenan and Batson Hewitt, who also own the adjacent French Quarter Inn.
The Spectator will include ground level parking and will share an off-site parking lot on Queen Street with the French Quarter Inn.
