A home near the Rivertowne development in Mount Pleasant suffered extensive damage following a fire Sunday night.

Firefighters were called to a home on Worthington Drive around 6 p.m. Mount Pleasant Police Lt. Jennifer Backman said three engines worked for several hours to contain the blaze. Police responded to help with traffic and security, Backman said.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Firefighters were still at the home around 9:30 p.m. to make sure no more flames erupted, Backman said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
