North Charleston man, 56, reported missing before body was found near North Bridge

The 56-year-old man whose body was found Friday morning in the Ashley River near North Charleston had been reported missing earlier this week, according to a police report.

Roger Alan Wilson of Parana Street was found dead in a marshy area near the World War II Memorial Bridge, according to the North Charleston Police Department. The span between North Charleston and West Ashley is widely known as the North Bridge.

How he died was not immediately known. Deputy Coroner Jill Farman of the Charleston County Coroner's Office confirmed his identity, but she could not provide a cause or manner of death.

Wilson's sister had reported him missing around 8 a.m. Sunday, the incident report stated.

He had left his cellphone, credit cards and other personal information behind at his home on Parana Street, the police said.
