A Coast Guard spokesman on Saturday said the owner of kiteboard that had been found on the beach at Isle of Palms has been reunited with his kiteboard.
Friday night, the Coast Guard issued a news release saying that a kiteboard found on an Isle of Palms beach had prompted a search of nearby waters for a possible missing person. The board had been found near 14th Avenue around 7:22 p.m.
A Coast Guard helicopter and rescue boat began searching soon after. The Charleston County and Isle of Palms fire departments also were assisting in the search, an online release said.
Today a friend of the owner recognized the kiteboard in a news report and contacted the owner, who called the Coast Guard to claim it.
