LANCASTER, S.C. - A woman has been shot and killed by Lancaster County sheriff's deputies responding to a call about a person driving erratically.
Sheriff Barry Faile said three of his deputies have been placed on leave while the State Law Enforcement Division investigates the shooting.
Faile says the shooting appears justified, but he did not give details about what kind of threats the woman made toward officers or the events leading up to the shooting.
The woman is the 14th person shot by a law enforcement officer in South Carolina this year.
The woman's name has not been released.
