Police in Berkeley County apparently stumbled upon a methamphetamine lab when they went to arrest a suspect in a convenience store hold-up.

The Moncks Corner Police Department and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office were investigating the April 17 robbery of a Scotchman story on East Main Street in Moncks Corner, and police had received lots of tips after circulating security camera photos.

Security cameras showed two men visiting the store several times that day before one demanded the contents of the cash register and implied he had a gun. The two men drove away together, police said.

On Wednesday police and deputies went to Joey Lane with an arrest warrant for James J. Craven Jr., and in the back of the residence police say they found a meth lab. Craven was charged with robbery and manufacturing methamphetamine.

Later that day, police arrested Jarret P. Craven, of Mullinax Lane, and charged him with robbery.
