An engineering and technical services company supporting power and communications utilities will locate its corporate headquarters and engineering operations in York County south of Charlotte, creating 130 jobs in a $2.2 million investment.
The corporate office for UC Synergetic in Fort Mill will accommodate additional staff for the company's growing list of clients, the state Commerce Department reported Thursday.
UC Synergetic is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pike Corp., which acquired the company in 2012. The new headquarters in South Carolina will be used to support UC Synergetic's 36 offices located throughout the country. It has more than 1,200 employees.
"This move will help us spur local and national economic growth," said John Thompson, president of UC Synergetic.
"We are excited UC Synergetic has decided to locate its headquarters in South Carolina - a reflection that our state's engineering and technical sector continues to grow," Gov. Nikki Haley said.
