FLORENCE - Prosecutors say two former Marion police officers have been indicted on federal charges because they excessively used their Tasers on a woman while arresting her.
Franklin Brown and Eric Walters were charged Wednesday with deprivation of rights under color of law. They also have state charges pending for the incident last April.
Authorities say Walters was arresting the woman and shocked her several times with a Taser. Investigators say Brown then came to help Walters with the arrest and shocked the woman several more times.
The federal charges carry up to 10 years in prison, while each of the state charges also carry a maximum of 10 years behind bars.
Court papers do not list attorneys for either officer.
