Charleston County sheriff's deputies are searching for a bicyclist who robbed an eyewear store at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities responded at 12:03 p.m. to Eyepifany Eyewear, 1031 S.C. Highway 41, following a report of the armed robbery, sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson said. The store is located near Mount Pleasant at the U.S. Highway 17 intersection.
Witnesses reported to investigators that a man walked into the store with a gun and demanded money. The robber ran from the scene with a cash drawer and left his bicycle behind, Watson said. No injuries were reported in the robbery, he said.
K-9 and air support units were dispatched to the robbery scene, but Watson said a search for the suspect was unsuccessful. Mount Pleasant police also assisted in the search.
The robber was described as a tall, black man with a slender build. The man appeared to be in his early to mid twenties, Watson said.
Anyone with information about the robbery can contact sheriff's deputies.
