Saint John Catholic Church and School will host A Taste of Italy fundraiser to benefit the school on its 65th anniversary.
The event Friday also celebrates the North Charleston church's 85th anniversary. The culinary and wine tour of Italy will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the school's campus in North Charleston.
At the event, the public will be invited to visit many of Italy's provinces by sampling food and wine pairings prepared and selected by Celia's of Charleston. Child care will be provided in the school building.
Established in 1949, Saint John Catholic School, which serves K4 through eighth grade, is a small and inclusive community that educates children of diverse faiths, learning needs and economic backgrounds.
Its mission is to provide a program that approaches all student needs individually. Class sizes are no more than 15.
Advance tickets to Friday's event can be purchased for a $65 donation online at www.saintjohncatholicsc.org or by calling the school office at 744-3901. Tickets will are $75 at the door.
The anniversary celebration continues Saturday with a carnival and cookout from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are free but must be reserved through the church or school in advance.
An anniversary Mass will be held Sunday at 11 a.m.
