North Charleston City Gallery Exhibit

What: Charleston photographer, Susana Berdecio, will present a collection of Lowcountry scenes in "Discovering a Sense of Place." Images of Jazz Artists of Charleston (JAC) & Charleston Jazz Orchestra events over the past six years captured by JAC resident photographers Alice Keeney, Priscilla Thomas, Ben Williams, and Reese Moore will also be on display in the exhibit "See Jazz."

Lunchtime Lecture: Gullah Arts & Traditions

What: "Art with a Twist: Gullah, Its Arts and Traditions," presented by the Gibbes Museum of Art. Sharon Cooper-Murray, aka the Gullah Lady, is an ambassador of the Gullah culture in the Lowcountry and will share an oral history of the traditions and arts that have been preserved over time by the local descendents of African slaves. Ticket price includes lunchbox and the location of the lecture is at the oldest African American church on Johns Island.

'Fun Home'

What: A young woman comes to terms with her father's self-destructive behavior and her own sexuality in the Off-Broadway musical, "Fun Home." The original cast will perform songs from the play, concert-style.

College of Charleston Concert Choir Spring Performance

What: The College of Charleston Concert Choir will perform a spring concert featuring music by Charles Ives, Johannes Brahms, Pierre de Manchicourt and more, as well as a musical tribute to the lives of John Tavener and Nelson Mandela.
