GARDEN CITY, S.C. - One person is dead and several others needed hospital treatment after a blaze at a three-story house in a South Carolina beach town.
Horry County chief deputy coroner Tamara Willard said one person died in Sunday's fire in Garden City. County Assistant Fire Chief Scott Thompson said several people were taken to hospitals after the blaze was reported at about 4 a.m. A neighbor said he saw fire spreading to all three levels of the house, which authorities believe the house is a vacation home.
Sunday marked the Easter holiday and an extended weekend for many vacation-seekers.
On Saturday, firefighters rescued two men trapped by fire inside a Murrells Inlet condo. Assistant Fire Chief Haney says they suffered burns and cardiac arrest. Two others jumped through a second-story window.
