Cullowhee, N.C. - Saturday's game between The Citadel and Western Carolina was suspended by rain after the top of the fourth with the Bulldogs leading the Catamounts by a score of 2-0.
The game will be resumed on Sunday at 1 p.m. followed by a nine-inning single contest that will serve as the finale of an abbreviated two-game set. The scheduled opening game on Friday night was rained out.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first when Mason Davis was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single by Tyler Griffin. After The Citadel left the bases loaded in the second, Griffin made it a two-run game when he led off the third with his fifth home run of the season.
The senior right fielder has hit in six straight games and driven in a run in all of them for a total of 11 RBIs during this hot streak.
Logan Cribb blanked the Catamounts through the first three innings, allowing only a two-out single to Taylor Sandefur in the second. Jeremy Null, the Catamount starter and preseason SoCon Pitcher of the Year, surrendered four hits and walked two in four innings.
