The driver who was killed during the rain in a wreck on S.C. Highway 61 on Friday has been identified.
Kahlil Gibran Davis, 26, of Wright Road in Ridgeville, died at the scene of a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 61 about one mile from U.S. Highway 17, according Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.
Davis was driving a 2000 Saturn four-door west on S.C. 61 when the car ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree about 6 p.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Davis was not wearing a seat belt. The report also noted it was raining at the time of the wreck. A 10-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Medical University Hospital.
