Charleston County sheriff's Deputy Rickie Biggs was presented with the J.P. Strom Award by the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy during her basic law-enforcement graduation ceremony Friday in Columbia.
The award is presented to the member of the graduating class who has achieved the highest overall academic average, including the successful completion of all performance tests, during the nine-week basic training program, according to sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
Biggs also got the Burke Friday Award during her basic jail graduation ceremony in 2012. That award also recognized the graduate with the highest overall academic average during the three-week academic training period.
Deputy Richard Spires and Deputy David Poole also attained their basic certification from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
