Three stolen vehicles were recovered from a chop shop in Berkeley County after the operator was arrested, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
Samuel Daniel Cooper III, 51, of Old Gilliard Road in Ridgeville is charged with three counts of receiving and possessing stolen vehicles, two counts of operating a chop shop, receiving and possession of stolen goods and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Cooper's residence was searched after he was observed driving a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup reported stolen in Summerville, Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Moon said. A 2013 Chrysler 300 that also been stolen in Summerville was found at the house, Moon said.
An agent with the National Insurance Crime Bureau identified a utility vehicle and Bobcat skid steer loader as stolen from North Charleston, Moon said. Deputies also reported finding illegal narcotics.
Cooper was being held in the Berkeley County jail on $140,000 bail Thursday.
