COLUMBIA - With three weeks left until the NFL draft, former South Carolina cornerback Victor Hampton hasn't helped his off-field reputation after reportedly being arrested for an alleged dispute with his sister.
Columbia police responded to a call April 6 when Hampton and his sister, Victoria Hampton, got into a heated disputed, according to The State. Hampton was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
It's the second straight day Hampton was accused of an altercation. Hampton and former South Carolina defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles were allegedly in a fight at a New York City nightclub last weekend, according to multiple reports including the New York Daily News.
"Drag my name through the mud and watch it come out clean I'm grateful and blessed #BANDIT" Hampton tweeted Tuesday.
An All-SEC Second Team selection as a junior last fall, Hampton's on-field skills are in high demand.
He's expected to be a late-round selection in the NFL Draft, but his bio page on NFL.com lists why some general managers may give pause.
"Character will require careful evaluation," it reads. ". Has had issues with anger management, emotional outbursts and team suspensions."
Hampton was dismissed from South Carolina's football team in 2011 for an unspecified violation of team rules, but he rejoined the team within a week.
