A Marion County company that makes water systems for the fire-fighting industry is expanding. Gov. Nikki Haley's office said Aerial Options will invest $410,000 to add more space and create 13 jobs, doubling the payroll at the Mullins plant.

Founded in 2007, Aerial Options serves customers in the United States and exports its water systems to Japan, Russia, South Korea, China and Europe. Vernon J. Wissler is the CEO.

Marion County's jobless rate of 10.6 percent for February was the highest in South Carolina for the month. That compares to more than 17.2 percent a year earlier, according to the latest data from the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.

Most of the decline can be traced to a drop in the number of residents in the county who are either working or actively looking for jobs. That figure, known as the labor force, fell by 730 over the year. At the same time, the number of employed workers rose by 108.
