A North Charleston man accused of putting a pistol to the head of his son's mother surrendered to police Tuesday.
Elton Maurice Weiters, 32, of Hull Street in North Charleston was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
Police were called to an apartment on East Bay Street about 11:45 a.m. Friday, according to the incident report. The resident said the father of their son knocked on the door about 5:30 a.m. Feb. 4 and put a silver pistol to her head when she opened it. The woman said Weiters told her, "You playin' with me and my boy. I should blow your brains out" and then left.
The woman said she was too scared to report the incident earlier. She said she called police after Weiters posted a message on Facebook saying he put a gun to her head to scare her.
Police put out a notice Tuesday afternoon asking for help finding Weiters. He surrendered to police later in the day, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
