A woman woke up Monday morning to find a man standing in her downtown Charleston apartment, and a suspect was arrested minutes later, according to Charleston police.
Police were called to an apartment on Laurens Street about 9 a.m. Monday, police spokesman Charles Francis said. A woman told police she woke to find a man standing in her bedroom. The man apologized and left, but the woman discovered she was missing some jewelry.
The woman gave police a description of the man, and a suspect was arrested near George and Meeting streets, Francis said.
Damon Ray Moore, 43, of Hobson Avenue in North Charleston was charged with first-degree burglary and property-crime enhancement. He was being held in the Charleston County jail.
